Today's World is a Different Place from the Past

Nutrition Diet Weight Health
The world we live in today is very different from our past – Our air, water, and soils are becoming increasingly polluted.  We live high-stress demanding lifestyles, and the food on our plates is significantly less dense in nutrients, overly-processed, sprayed with chemicals or genetically engineered.

Presently pharmaceutical drugs are commonly used as a first choice to treat disease rather than a last resort. Reliance on caffeine and alcohol to manage our energy and stress levels is all too common. Epidemics of diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and chronic inflammatory conditions are all red flags - We need to do something differently!

100 years ago, 80% of the foods in our grocery stores (processed foods) didn’t even exist. The clean pure foods that our grandparents considered standard now have special labeling such as “organic” or “non-gmo”.  The majority of people are making their food choices based on convenience, taste and cost.  Quality and appropriateness of the foods we consume must be considered if we are to nourish our bodies and enjoy health.

Not long ago people were aware of the healing properties of foods.  Herbs and other natural remedies were part of daily life. These were selected based on the season, one’s body constitution, or a specific health imbalance – keeping individuals healthy and strong.

Isn’t it time we took back our bodies, our food, and our health! Support your body naturally with a MFT Nutritional Consultation today.

GMO's

GMO GMO's genetically modified foods
Most people I meet do not even know the main genetically modified “foods” in the US marketplace. The majority of Corn, Soy, Canola and Cottonseed Oil, and Sugar are genetically modified “foods” and to a lesser extent papaya, yellow squash, and zucchini. According to the Institute for Responsibility Technology there has only been one limited study done on the effects of GMO’s on humans. However, there are numerous studies done on the effects of feeding GMO’s to animals. These studies show an array of health consequences and abnormal physiological functioning. I recommend playing it safe and avoiding these “foods” wherever possible by buying them with “organic” or “non-gmo” labels. To learn more about GMO’s and download the Non-GMO shopping guide please click the link below.

pesticides organic environmental health toxins

The benefits of eating organic are many including – less toxic chemicals in our food, higher density of vitamins and nutrients, lower environmental impact, and support of small farms. However – not everyone has the choice or budget to buy all their food organic. For those that would still like to make healthier choices, knowledge is power.Knowing which produce is the most and least sprayed with toxic chemicals allows us to make smarter choices at the market. The Environmental Working Group compiles just such a list annually based on data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Food and Drug Administration.
